Inzpire Company presents their second full length show – Canvas -

January 30th 2012 7pm

Using the concept of a blank canvas to represent life, our dancers weave their stories using colour as the theme and movement as the medium.
Canvas is a multifaceted show, and has something for people of all ages. Multimedia and art combine to paint our picture, as we take our audience on a journey of every emotion and phase of what makes up our lives. The show has a varied soundtrack and and also features live accompaniment to some of the pieces, adding even more depth to the already moving show. Special guest dance acts finish off the production beautifully, ensuring a mix of dance styles, showcasing several up and coming, very talented New Zealand choreographers. From fun and frivolity, to dealing with some of lifes hardships and gritty issues, CANVAS has it all.

photo: Andrew Malmo from ‘A Thousand Hills’ developed @ TAPAC 2011

We will be creating a new and exciting physical theatre based work at TAPAC lead by Co. Theatre Physical’s Artistic Director Beth Kayes. TAPAC and Co. Theatre Physical will join forces to create this new work to be workshopped during the first term of 2012.

This will be a site specific, unique event lead by a professional team, working with many of the active performing arts, professional and community groups who regularly create, workshop, rehearse, play and perform at TAPAC. We aim to create a new event of pure joy and entertainment celebrating Auckland’s talent and diversity. The final performance will be devised over a series of fun and challenging workshops as we gather new material to create the unexpected. While we will combine a variety of talents and performance styles we’ll be striving for quality in performance. You might wish to perform or you might prefer to be behind the scenes, we are open – but the vital ingredient is commitment. This new work will combine a variety of talents from a clash of cultures through theatre, dance and music.

In its mission to promote outstanding and accessible community performing arts experiences, the Performing Arts School is presenting a significantly new and innovative performance project, which brings together an intensive in-theatre experience over two weeks with a solid day of mixed arts shows supported and integrated by family friends and the broader community.

This new project combines the experience and expertise of previous PASNZ variety show performance seasons with the same delightful culmination of participant endeavour and innovation. We see this as a critical part of the learning experience and an enormously effective way to feel the build of self-confidence and expression ~ performance in the moment ~ with continuous guidance provided to all from our wonderful industry practitioners ~ tutors, tech and crew…
