A sexy and fun online dance class for beginners who want to explore the art of burlesque.Playful, sensual and creative, burlesque dance encompasses theatre, comedy and choreography...

Burlesque dance is inclusive and celebrates bodies of all shapes and sizes. Wear whatever you want and join Rebekkah as we move through to find confidence and your creative playful side. This class will include a warm up and stretch flowed by a routine and then warm down.

Entry is free, or you can make a koha donation, but you need to register in order to be sent the Zoom link to the class.

All Zoom links are sent to you automatically 30 minutes before the class starts but if you do not receive a link or are unable to find it please email [email protected]

Please try to join the class 5-10 minutes before so that the tutor can sort out any issues and direct you in how to optimise your Zoom settings for a better experience before they get the class started. We recommend that you use a device which has a microphone, speakers and camera for all TAPAC classes. You will be asked at the beginning of each class to turn on your microphone and camera to say hello. After this you may turn off your camera if you choose.

Rebekkah Schoonbeek TAPAC

Rebekkah Schoonbeek

An in-demand professional dancer, choreographer, singer and actress, Rebekkah trained in Auckland and New York at Broadway Dance Centre.  She is the Co-Artistic Director of the popular Night of the Queer, staged at TAPAC annually for Auckland Pride Festival. Rebekkah has appeared on X-Factor and Jono & Ben and in multiple music videos (Marlon Williams, Stan Walker).  She has performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the hit show Two Hearts. In 2019 she performed in Shortland Street: The Musical and featured on the original cast recording album. Her theatre credits include Pleasuredome the Musical, Chicago, Artemis, Gifted, Anything Goes and 42nd Street. Rebekkah has danced for many live events and has choreographed and danced for a number of festivals, including Tempo, Short + Sweet, where she received the ‘Stand out Female Performer Award’ in 2015. In 2016 she completed a residency at the Banff Arts Centre in Canada. Rebekkah is an experienced dance educator and has created curricula for several institutions. Her choreography work includes creating for musicals such as We Will Rock You and West Side Story.
