TAPAC class

Run by Pacific Dance New Zealand, these free classes are for girls and boys aged 5-13 to learn more about the dances, customs and ceremonies of the Pacific...

Children will learn to work together and appreciate cultural dance forms of the Pacific such as Siva Samoa. They will also learn costume-making skills and ceremonial tasks such as the 'ava’ ceremony once classes return to TAPAC's studios.

Lead Tutor Cilla Brown is an experienced Samoan dance teacher and costume-maker. Classes also feature special guest instructors in Tongan, Cook Islands and Hawaiian dance.

Classes are for children aged 5-13 years, but exceptions can be made for older youth.

All children are required to bring a lavalava (sarong) for class.

Girls class - Tuesdays 4.00pm-5.00pm

Boys class - Tuesdays 5.00pm-6.00pm

The organisation is governed by the Pacific Islands Dance Fono Trust. Pacific Dance New Zealand's Founder and Director Iosefa Enari was made a Member of New Zealand Merit in 2020.
