This workshop is designed for children who want to learn the art of comedy in a fun environment using the techniques of theatre improvisation. The inherent spontaneity in improvisational theatre makes it a course that reveals and develops creativity, enhances your communication skills and increases your imagination.

During the workshop you will explore an array of movement, thought and performance exercises. Physical exercises include rhythmic movement, energetic movement and body awareness. Perception and expression exercises include observation, concentration, memory, sensory awareness, imitation and reflection. You will explore comic and dramatic elements including setting, plot, characterisation, sound and dialogue. Working exercises are divided into roles and group collaboration is encouraged.

Lunchboxes

Ham or vegetarian lunchboxes ($10 per day) can be ordered when you pay for the course or pre-ordered each morning.

Lunchboxes include: 

  • 1 x ham or vegetarian roll sandwich (includes salad, cheese and spreads)
  • 1 x piece of fruit
  • Carrot sticks
  • 1 x pack of chips
  • 1 x piece of brownie
  • 1 x Charlie’s juice pouch

Joana Ponder TAPAC

Joana Ponder

Joana is an improviser, creator and trainer. She feels the creator label best encompasses the work she does as a director, performer, artist, and writer. Joana uses applied improvisation as a tool in her work empowering teams within companies and her personal coaching with individuals. She's passionate about improv and loves to teach and she's had the pleasure of touring across Europe performing and teaching improv. Joana studied at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and she likes to use her artistic background to inform the theatrical aesthetics of what she does onstage, combining her expertise in comedy and physical theatre with visual thinking.
