Mark Scott

Mark is an actor, improviser and stand-up comedian with 20 years’ experience in each discipline. He has performed throughout North America, Europe and Australasia and been a regular host at New Zealand’s Classic Comedy and Bar. Mark has improvised as an Improv Bandit in three televised Comedy Festival galas and won Best Actor twice in the Auckland Short and Sweet play competitions. He plays the annoyingly self-unaware Mel in the web series ‘It’s Mel’, has a number of television roles to his credit including Millen Baird’s ‘Auckland Daze’ and was the front man on the television campaign for Moro before chocolate energy (sugar) bars got replaced with energy (sugar) drinks. A dad of two, Mark has been teaching the Art of Improv Courses (Now Improv 101 and 201) for Auckland’s Covert Theatre since its inception in 2001. He is also a member of Improv Bandits, Instant Broadway (improvised musical) and Bard’s Tale (improvised ‘Shakespeare’) troupes, the latter having played at Pop Up Globe and the 2019 NZ Comedy Festival. His career highlights include playing with ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’ stars Wayne Brady (at the NZ International Comedy Festival) and Colin Mochrie (at the Improv Bandits 20th Birthday show at Auckland Town Hall).
