This practical, engaging programme will teach you everything you need to know to craft a catchy pop song that will stick in people’s heads. Plus, record your new song for others to enjoy!

The course will explore song structure and how harmony and melody coexist to support the idea behind a lyric. You’ll learn basic lyrical conventions: metaphor, rhyme, assonance, oxymoron etc.

Students will learn how to collaborate and write in a group. You’ll analyse successful songs and learn how to borrow ideas from popular songs to craft something new.

You’ll have the opportunity to workshop songs that you may have already written and you’ll also have the opportunity to record your new song!

“It makes me feel like I belong. It also makes me feel happy. I feel more honest, able to express my feelings. I feel more confident that I can pursue music.”
