The Frog Prince is an action-packed adventure crammed with colourful characters who revel in slapstick hi-jinks, magical mishaps and musical mischief…
Written and produced by TAPAC’s Executive Director Sarah Somerville, this hilarious re-telling of the much- loved fairytale is given a modern, kiwi spin.
Princess Matilda is not interested in doing normal ‘Princess-y’ stuff, she wants to play rugby and she’s desperate to make the first fifteen at school, but first she must deal with arch rival and bully Petunia Poopersnot.
When Matilda tries to take advantage of a passing frog, who kindly retrieves her golden rugby ball from a palace pond, she learns the hard way that when you make a promise you must keep it. And as the day of the try-outs dawns, Matilda is forced to reconsider her habit of judging on appearances.
“This traditional fairytale is turned upside down in a highly original New Zealand flavoured re-telling kids will love! The Frog Prince is a truly wonderful piece of children's theatre, perfectly pitched to please a younger audience, and with enough delightfully clever comic action to keep any adult minders amused and appreciative.” Theatreview.org.nz
