Improve your mobility and fitness, meet new people and have a good dance in this fun, friendly and free dance and movement programme, designed especially for seniors with age-related physical mobility challenges. Learn contemporary dance movements from a professional dance teacher to improve your balance and coordination, keep joints mobile and improve your strength and flexibility.

WHEN: Fridays 10:00am–10:45pm (classes are followed by a free morning tea)

WHERE: The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC), 100 Motions Road, Western Springs 

WHAT TO WEAR: Please wear clothes that you can easily move in and soft, supportive shoes.

No partner or experience required and seniors with walkers and in wheelchairs are welcome. This class is suitable for seniors who are not active and able enough to attend typical senior dance classes. There is high demand for this programme, so we kindly ask that if you enrol you make your best effort to attend every week.

SeniorsDANCE

Established in 2011, SeniorsDANCE offers dance classes across Auckland. The organisation is managed by Susan Jordan, whose dance career spans five decades as performer, choreographer, academic, teacher, writer and arts manager.  SeniorsDANCE classes are an enjoyable way to stay active using easy to learn movement based on contemporary dance. Classes build balance and coordination, keep joints mobile and strengthen muscle while addressing physical, mental and social wellbeing.
