Lyrical Dance Workshop

Explore storytelling through fluid movements, interpret music with emotion, and develop your dance skills in a supportive and creative environment. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, join us for a journey of expression in our lyrical dance workshop for teens and adults!

10.00-10.15am Introduction
Meet & greet the dancers, Olivia will connect with the dancers and share what’s in store for the workshop.

10.15-11.00am Open Ballet Barre Warm up
A traditional open ballet barre class to prepare and warm up for the lyrical class.

11.00-12.00pm Open Lyrical Class/Workshop
We will transition into lyrical class focusing on a piece of choreography from Olivia, as well as improvisation from the dancers and expressive movement.

Teaching Artist- Olivia Holland
Olivia is a former professional ballet dancer and trained at the Royal Ballet School in London. She danced professionally with the Royal Ballet of Flanders and Northern Ballet, before travelling to New Zealand from the UK in 2015 to embark on a new chapter beyond her dancing career. Olivia has over 10 years in the teaching field and is a qualified ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance after completing the Professional Dancer’s Postgraduate Teaching Certificate in Sydney, Australia.

Since leaving her ballet career, Olivia has been on a journey to rediscover her path within movement which lead her to study with BASI Pilates on the Global Comprehensive Course in London. She has experience teaching in some of the leading Pilates studios across London, including the BASI headquarters in Wimbledon, and runs her own Pilates For Dancers Workshops designed to help dancer’s gain strength and awareness of movement through Pilates & ballet coaching."

Olivia has choreographed for prestigious competitions and performances, with a strong passion for lyrical dance and expressive movement. In 2021, Olivia's lyrical troupe 'Poison' came 1st place at NSPA Jazz Awards as well as being awarded 2nd highest scoring troupe in the overall competition. She has choreographed for solos, duos and troupes for dancer's across Auckland and helped successfully mentor dancers in preparation for the professional dancing world.
